The Detective Section of the Criminal Investigation Unit investigates all major crimes, any crime which requires extensive investigation or specialized training, and any case as directed by the Chief of Police. The detectives prepare all search warrants for the department, conduct all applicant background investigations, investigate fugitive cases, handle extraditions, and pawn shop investigations. The section is currently comprised of three officers holding the rank of Patrolman First Class and three officers holding the rank of Corporal who act as supervisors. The section reports to the Detective Sergeant. The detectives handle large caseloads of a wide variety, ranging from bad checks and financial crimes to homicides. The section is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including an Evidence Detection Vehicle to aid in the collection of vital evidence. |
