"Dover Police to host 10th Citizen's Police Academy"

The Dover Police Department will be holding the 10th session of the Citizen’s Police Academy beginning February 21, 2002. The classes will meet every Thursday night for 12 weeks from 6pm to 9pm.

What is the Citizen’s Police Academy?  

It is a program set up by the Dover Police Department to help the community to understand what they do and who they are.

Why should I be interested in this program?  

This program is an excellent way to become acquainted with your Police Department and to learn how to help yourself when needed.

What Will I Learn About?

Some of the classes include Patrol Procedures, High Risk Traffic Stops, Handcuffing Techniques, Radar/Lidar, Investigative Procedures, Community Policing, Accident Investigation, Special Unit duties, as well as several demonstrations. Class members may also participate in a Patrol Ride Along.  

How do I enroll?  

Complete an application and return it to Dover Police Department. Applications can be downloaded from this web site. Class size is limited!
