Patrol Section

The largest and most visible unit in the Dover Police Department is the Patrol Section of the Patrol Unit. This section provides high visibility patrols throughout the city. Patrol officers are responsible for the initial response to the majority of complaints or calls for service received by the Communications Center. The officers assigned to the Patrol Section are assigned to four working platoons that provide 24-hour coverage of the city. The primary mission of this section is to protect life and property, preserve the peace and order of the city, and maintain the safety of its citizens.

The Patrol Section also includes members of the K9 Unit.
