The team's primary duty is that of rapid tactical deployment with special weapons, as needed, based on an existing or perceived emergency or threat. The team is also utilized in conjunction with the Drug, Vice, and Organized Crime Section for the purpose of executing high-risk search warrants, as well as working with the Hostage Negotiation Team if a hostage situation can not be resolved by any other means. |
The current team is comprised of 12 officers that can be used as two 6-man entry teams or deployed as needed to facilitate an operation. Officers are cross-trained on a variety of special weapons, with three officers designated as forward observers and equipped with Remington Tactical Response Rifle Systems. Another officer is designated as the primary chemical munitions officer (with one alternate) equipped with long and short range tactical projectiles, gas, OC (pepper spray), diversion devices, and a 37mm grenade launcher. This highly skilled team trains regularly and is equipped with the most modern equipment available today.
